Wow, has it really been nearly a month since I last wrote a blog post?! That’s the sign of life getting crazy right before my eyes! The past month has been busy, but also a lot of fun. So what has been consuming my life this entire time?
Well for one, I had my graduation earlier this month! On June 11th, it became more official than it already was. Of course with something as big and significant as a graduation comes a lot of preparation and celebration. The week leading up to my graduation, I was preparing by finding dresses, getting my nails and hair done, and preparing for the arrival of my parents from overseas. Doesn’t sound like a lot, but it kind of is, especially since I did all of that within about 3 or 4 days.
Once my parents got in town, the graduation weekend began, starting with my baccalaureate which was on the Friday before my graduation. The Mass was beautiful. My school is the largest Catholic university in the country, so Mass is pretty important. After the Mass, we went and ate at Formento’s. If you’re from Chicago, it’s an Italian restaurant on Randolph Street in the West Loop.
On Saturday, I had intended on taking graduation pictures around the city, but other things came up and I didn’t end up doing that. We spent most of the day just hanging out, resting; not doing anything too major. Sunday–graduation day–was so exciting. I woke up around 6 in the morning, got dressed, and went to pick up my parents. We had a few hours to spare before the ceremony, and during that time I was able to get some really nice pictures (courtesy of my dad, “my personal photographer”). After the ceremony, we went to eat at McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks.
The entire weekend was great and I had so much fun with my family! A few days after, my mom and I headed down to North Carolina for 5 days and my dad went to Atlanta. I was so happy to get out of Chicago, even though it was just to little ‘ole Fayetteville. I’m a person who loves being in different environments, so after being in Chicago for a full year without leaving, I was extremely excited to leave. I honestly didn’t want to come back to Chicago, but all good things eventually come to an end.
Once my mom and I got back to Chicago, we only had a few more days until my mom went back overseas. We spent a lot of time hanging out downtown, and my mom ran errands and got things done that she isn’t able to get done overseas. We also spent some quality time with my niece Jordyn. We kept her out of school one day and just got food and went to the park.
My mom just left at the beginning of this week and a few days before she left I started getting sick. I’m someone who, for the past few months, has not been on a schedule. I’ve been able to come and go as I please, wake up and go to sleep whenever. But this month, I was a lot busier than I’m used to being, so I think my body literally exhausted itself. I’ve been waking up early, going from place to place, having certain times to do things, so I think my body was a little shook by that. My energy level was extremely low, so I really took this week to just become normal again. I’m finally able to get out of the bed and slowly get back in the swing of things.
Now that things have calmed down a little bit, I am able to start focusing on my blog again. I made a completely new schedule, so I have plenty of things lined up to post in July, and unless something else unexpectedly comes up, I’ll be back to posting once or twice a week!
